Review of High and Low (1933) by Rasmus L — 16 Dec 2008
The story is a familiar one, but Kurosawa wisely places a strong emphasis on questions of morality and humanity in a cutthroat modern society, creating moments just as scintillating as in some of the more traditional action-oriented scenes, if not more so, and the action scenes themselves are anything but stale.
Coupled with technical mastery, perfect pacing and stellar performances from every cast member, what more could a person ask for?
