Review of High and Low (1933) by Jon G — 03 Feb 2009
A good suspense film from Kurosawa. Kingo Gondo (Toshiro Mifune) is faced with a dilemma when money he has allocated to take over his company becomes the money he must use to save his kidnapped son. Things become further complicated when Gondo learns that it is his chauffeur's son that has been kidnapped.
Will the greedy executive pay the money or go on with his plan? Great performances by Mifune and fellow acting star Tatsuya Nakadai as the investigator on the kidnapper's tail. Overlooked film from the old master.
