Hide & Seek is one of those gimmick movies unfortunately. Rather then taking the story line further and use the psychological undertone to further the journey and give a little depth into the story, she is wasted with far fetched, weird and over all ridiculous plot that doesn't nearly deliver in the end.

The movie starts out good and really gets you sucked in but later when the layers start peeling away one by one and when it came to a certain points I stopped and couldn't really believe where the director was taking the story. In the end Hide & Seek is nothing better then an unoriginal teenage-horror film that throws intelligent and rational thinking out of the window and puts their confidence in out of control and ridiculous scenes where the only purpose is to make you jump from your seat. Robert De Niro is much better then this and deserves better. Dakota Fanning is also much better then this but I have to say that she was great in her role.

You have too talk about the end if you want to rate this movie fairly and yes the end twist was surprising but right away when the answers come out, my opinion of this movie dropped and dropped. How many times has this been done?? The movie should have stayed has a low key thriller like it began as rather then going into a over-driven thriller. When you go over the whole picture, there are not a lot of good things to talk about. The movie never becomes anything and it never evolves from what it began as. I think we can safely that this film was a big fail for the director.

2/10.
