Review of Hide and Seek (2005) by Zach B — 04 Oct 2013
The "twist" ending is derivative of movies like Angel Heart (in which De Niro co-starred) and The Sixth Sense. What's worse, it occurs about 30 minutes before the end of the movie, effectively killing the suspense.
It also makes many of the things Dakota Fanning's character says and does earlier in the film make no sense whatsoever. Add to this the neighbors' dead daughter (who turns out to be a red herring) and what remains is a tremendous letdown.
It's astonishing that so many talented actors signed on to be a part of this project.
