Review of Hidden in the Woods (2012) by Evan O — 09 Aug 2013
Movie poster with Michael Biehn is from the 2014 American remake directed by Patricio Valladares. The Chilean original from 2 years previous begins with violent domestic abuse: a mother is viciously murdered and her two young daughters are left behind to be raised by her husband, the very man who killed her.
Years later, he is a drug trafficker, living in the same house out in the woods and obviously abusing his daughters. The movie's violence is only outmatched by its sexual depravity, most of which is quite graphic.
Not recommended for the squeamish. With respect to the Spanish language, it was a fairly difficult movie to understand for a non-native speaker like myself. While it was hardly necessary to follow the dialogue to understand the plot of the film, subtitles were definitely necessary to understand the dialogue.
