Review of Hidden Figures (2016) by Brandon R — 23 Feb 2017
Although the good performances, the powerful message about racial prejudice and female equality, Hidden Figures tends to make its characters behave in a ridiculously overblown fashion. This leads to it coming out way too pushy, preachy and afraid that you are not going to understand it.
It does not let you draw your own conclusions about the problems at hand, instead of that it hammers its ideas like a church choir into you. Is it Oscar worthy. No. It is a decent, even a good movie, but ultimately its a B rated affair that just tells a story about something extraordinary without it being extraordinary by itself.
