Review of Hidden Figures (2016) by Richard S — 31 Jul 2017

I think this is a film everyone should see. It's an inspirational film about 3 brilliant women fighting to be noticed in their chosen careers during the civil rights movement of the 1960's. The film essentially focuses on the space race between America and Russia with the Americans initially falling behind due to their lack of expertise.

Unbeknown to them, the expertise they require is working locked in a basement of Nasa specifically sealed off from the rest of the staff due to their race. Once recognised these women still struggle to do their jobs efficiently due to the barriers they face which again are only there because of their race.

Despite this they continue to fight to do their jobs because there are higher things at stake than their own happiness. All 3 actresses give stand out performances and the film kept me hooked throughout and that can be quite a difficult task when maths is involved.

I think this is a film that should be shown in schools, to inspire school children to reach a little higher.
