Review of Hidalgo (2004) by Ryan G — 25 Jan 2010
I couldn't figure out exactly what this movie was up to. It really really wanted to be a Western. And then it kind of wanted to be a fish-out-of-water story. And then it wanted to be a social commentary. And then it also wanted to be Indiana Jones. And then it wanted to be a coming-to-terms-with-your-heritage/any-religion-but-Christianity.
I found it disjointed and boring.
Except for Detective Sofia Curtis from CSI. She was pretty intriguing as the cold and calculating Victorian villainness who of course had to wear full Victorian starched, lacy gowns in the desert. I had a hard time not rooting for her.
