Review of Hey Arnold! The Movie (2002) by Kurt N — 30 May 2008

A fan of the cartoon and its oh-so-formulaic story lines, I was disappointed by this movie. Not only did the movie do absolutely nothing new outside the formula, but it perverted the formula I had come to love by cannibalizing the plots of several memorable episodes.

Moreover, at the end of most Nick movies, the characters have undergone a change (as opposed to most Nick shows, where the status quo is reasserted at the end of the episode), and thus, I expected a big change at the end of the movie, especially since the release of the movie came close on the heels of the end of the show.

However, at the end of the movie, the status quo is reasserted... it might as well have been a mediocre episode of the show.
