Review of Hey Arnold! The Movie (2002) by Alex M — 04 Jan 2014
I was a huge "Hey Arnold" fan as a kid. I liked the concept of this movie, and I think Paul Sorvino made a convincing villain in his performance as Scheck. However, this movie is only for die-hard fans like myself.
The main focus is on Arnold, Gerald and Helga, and I guess that make sesne because they were the three characters who had the most episodes focused on them. The only supporting characters that get a lot of attention are Helga's father, Big Bob, and Arnold's grandparents.
The other supporting characters like Phoebe, Lila, Harold, Sid, Stinky, and Rhonda only make cameo appearances. I wish they could've been written into the story to join up with Arnold, Gerald and Helga in their quest to stop Scheck.
This could've easily been a 90-minute TV special instead of a feature film, but at least it's not as disastrous as another Nickelodeon series that was adapted into a movie. I think you all know which one I'm talking about.
This movie, I give a 6/10.
