Review of Hesher (2010) by Lauren S — 14 Oct 2011
I loved this movie. It's dark and discomforting. But it is what it is. Hesher is a force of pure id who turns an emotional wasteland of a family upside down, then rightside up, and disappears as easily as he came. He's not happy-go-lucky crazy, but he's not homicidal either. He is simply what happens when someone does not understand or care for the social conventions of politeness and order. He sees what needs to be done and does it. Period.
Joseph Gordon Levitt is a force of acting nature.
