Review of Hesher (2010) by Derek Schwartz D — 25 Jan 2012
Very odd film. It gives a brilliant performance from Joseph Gordon- Levitt. But pointless characters and poor acting from the kid make this film dull, and lackluster. Rainn Wilson actually gives a great dramatic performance, and I wasn't expecting that at all.
Natalie Portman was really not needed, the character seemed to be added just so the film could have some form of a "plot," which it really didn't. The kid is flat out bad, and his performance becomes a shy kid who cannot stop yelling "FUCK.
" But the film carries itself well with Levitt leading the way. So it's watchable, there just wasn't that much of a plot.
