Review of Hesher (2010) by Dominik G — 06 Oct 2011
Very weird, darkly humorous, and well acted, Hesher is certainly unique. The main character is completely inexplicable, and so is Natalie Portman's character, but that doesn't seem to bother the film.
It likes being ambiguous. This doesn't help the narrative, however, as Hesher often seems to meander and never quite becomes poignant. Still, it does go in a number of interesting, if not completely successful, directions.
