This was quite depressing. it's missing something that could have made this film extremely profound; the simple yet random storyline kinda threw the direction off I think. the kid who plays tj did phenomenally well.
the character of hesher is just a dick. if he was going to be that much of a renegade, I feel like he should have been incorporated into the exposition a little better. the relationship between him and the other characters really makes little to no sense and would never actually happen in real life.
if the writer/director wasn't shooting for real life, then it should have been built up more so we wouldn't compare it to real life. the grandma is a sweetheart. and natalie portman is kinda useless.
