Review of Hesher (2010) by Adam O — 17 Feb 2012
All performances were a joy to watch. The story itself is a twist on an old take. Kid with family problems suddenly meets the magical stranger who turns their life around and teaches them a few life lessons too.
Only in this case 'Hesher' is the polar opposite, in terms of character, of the magical stranger. He's genuinely an asshole that unintentionally enlightens our protagonist. I liked the twist take on the formula, however it does drag and becomes predictable and ultimately has the same cliched 'message' that all the other films do.
