Review of Hero (2012) by Nick D — 03 Nov 2009

I'm pretty sure it's impossible to bored while watching any cinematography done by Christopher Doyle, which is certainly true for Yimou Zhang's 'Ying xiong'. Doyle's visuals here, much like his work with Kar Wai Wong, are what stand out most.

The film also has some terrific performances and some beautifully choreographed fight sequences. The plot isn't without flaw and kind of fumbles through the telling of the stories a little too much, but it hardly subtracts from the overall film.

You should definitely see this movie...
