Irrespective to the supporting cast, Joaquin Phoenix proves he can take center stage and hold it for 2 hours without missing a beat. Not since Walk the Line has Pheonix given such a performance. (Unless you count his ludicrious preparation for his role in I'm Still Here, where he made the world believe he had genuinely gone insane to pursue a career in rapping after retiring from acting.).

It's anything but cliche, I appreciate it.

Also, Scarlet Johansson moans in this a lot, for whatever that is worth to you, dear reader.
