Review of Hero (1983) by Mark M — 31 Jul 2012
Leave it to Chinese cinema to create a visual masterpiece full of colorful imagery, impressively choreographed fight scenes, and a tragically beautiful story set in Feudal China. This is Jet Li's finest role, playing Nameless, a fierce warrior who claims to have vanquished the assassins who plotted to overthrow the king.
The film is told from multiple viewpoints, each recapping events in a slightly different manner. Each story is accompanied by a specific theme and color scheme. The brilliant cinematography and breathtaking visuals are not found in any mainstream American film, providing a feast for the eyes.
