Review of Hereditary (2018) by Bruce J — 19 Jun 2018
Critics love it, viewers hate it. The answer lies in the middle. Not a masterpiece and not terrible. They tried to build a creepy, foreboding slow burn only to make the first hour.
A snooze fest. Then things pick up and for next 45 minutes which is pretty spooky and fairly riveting.
The ending brings in a whole new element that was not necessary and the films does go off the rails. Colette tends to way over act and there a few whopper plot holes that were hard to swallow. For you film buffs, the direction and camera movement are most effective and fresh. Overall sort of a bungled Sixth Sense that has its moments but I'd never want to see this S-show again.
