Review of Hereditary (2018) by Queenofthebeach — 08 Jun 2018
Oh man. I loved this movie. As someone who loved The Babadook and The Witch, this film was excellent. What I love the most is what others have already said: this film relied more on tension, sound, and imagery to give you that feeling of dread and it did it perfectly.
I was not ready for some of the things shown in this film. Sometimes I had to do a double take to make sure I was seeing what I was seeing and some of these scenes will stay with me for a long time.
It felt like I was watching something I shouldn't be seeing, and yet I wanted to find out what happens next. Toni Collette's performance was fantastic and so well acted. This film exceeded my expectations and was so refreshing.
I would definitely see it again.
