Review of Hereditary (2018) by Meggan W — 09 Jun 2018
This movie is incredibly scary and very well-made. It's slow to get going, but once it started moving, I was at the edge of my seat for the rest of the show. I think some people don't like it because they are looking for a traditional horror movie, and this is not that.
Much on the movie is a family drama and a commentary on grieving, which by the incredible imagination of director Ari Aster somehow felt just as terrifying to me as a more traditional horror movie. But for those people looking for a standard bump-in-the-night ghost story, this movie may be a disappointment.
For me, its deviation from the standard was what made it so special. Can't wait to see if again!
