Review of Hereditary (2018) by Laura B — 13 Jun 2018
Overall very well-acted, and at moments I was reminded of other horror-suspense greats such as Rosemary's Baby and The Shining, but Hereditary relies too heavily on its own snail-like pace and drawn out still-frame shots to really build true terror.
In the most chilling films of its genre, less is often more. I was hoping to be scared out of my skin but instead found myself chuckling or rolling my eyes at questionable plot points. There were 2-3 scenes that I found to be exceptionally creepy and worth the price of admission, and strong performances from a talented cast are what will stay with you after the credits roll.
