Review of Hereditary (2018) by Joyce B — 15 Jun 2018
Hereditary was intense and traumatic. The actors were impeccable. The story was unforgettable, beyond disturbing. I feel like the jump-scare has tainted the genre to the point that moviegoers have confused being startled with being horrified.
But Hereditary was so wrenching, with scenes that had me in tears, gasping in disbelief, and wishing I could pause just to take a breath, it didn't need to resort to any "got 'cha" jump tricks.
