Review of Hereditary (2018) by Penny B — 16 Jun 2018
Don't let the positive reviews convince you that the audience's laughter was 'nervous' laughter brought about as a result of tension in the cinema ; it wasn't.
Instead, it was the audience laughing at the ridiculousness of the plot and bizarre ending.
It was as if the director had fallen asleep (along with his audience - I was practising 'mindfulness' to help me cope with the tedium) then suddenly woke up in the last scene and , realised it should be a horror, quickly put some scary bits in ( if you think seeing your Granada and Grandma naked would be scary).
On a positive, the actors are good and it is a well shot film.
Don't believe the positive reviews. Save your money.
