Review of Hereditary (2018) by Isaac R — 17 Jun 2018

I 100% understand why the average audience wouldn't enjoy this. It's absurd, there are moments of unspeakably disturbing visuals and themes, and it's overall an upsetting trip. I honestly don't fault anyone for leaving in the middle of it or laughing uncomfortably by the end.

Having said that, I thought this was one of the best horror movies in the past decade with some of the most fascinating and realistic family struggles I've seen in recent memory. Family-based horror is uncomfortable and strange, so is this movie.
