Review of Hereditary (2018) by Bladelover2049 — 16 Nov 2018
A horror movie is not defined by the fear it may cause in the viewer. It is defined by the successful or ingenious deployment it can make so that the viewer can react. This movie is not any of them. It is lost in nebulous symbolism and in a Machiavellian history, which at the same time is a dark exploration of the collective mind, known as family.
The film ends in a vortex meaningless, predictable, with sudden plot twists, and makes the viewer believe that the horror is to see horror, when it should be to feel the horror.
