Review of Hereditary (2018) by Wesley O — 28 Sep 2018
A very abstract supernatural horror film in which, after a family's grandmother passes away, her grieving family is haunted by tragic and disturbing occurrences, and dark secrets are unraveled. Very smart, creepy, extremely well planned and full of foreshadowing all over but I'm afraid a second watch is compulsory if you really want to understand it.
Toni Collette and Alex Wolff's performances are outstanding, and she may well deserve an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of mental deterioration. Concentration is needed and you will be in the edge of your seat.
We are given the choice to think that mental health or pure evil or both are inherited, but the movie gives no right answer.
