Review of Hereditary (2018) by Sakura C — 24 Sep 2018
The movie is very creepy overall, but never gets to be scary. The only scary thing is the lack of a storyline throughout and explanation on whatever is happening, and the sudden cliché and need to explain by portraying an old book with a demon/god picture and a lousy explanation of him.
As the film goes on, the inicial creepiness is gradually transformed, and the only true horror is the boredom that starts sneaking in. If somehow you manage to stay awake, you will be gifted with a disapointing ending that instead of making you "wow?", makes you "oh.
... ok, I guess...". Somehow, the movie suffers from the same problems as most horror movies: lack of decent plot, same old clichés, mid-movie boredom and lacking ending.
