Review of Hereditary (2018) by S Y — 19 Sep 2018
So I have gone through many of the reviews on here, and people complain about the ending quite a bit. I think folks did not pay attention to the film. You need to pick up on certain lines and queues throughout the film, as there is quite a bit of foreshadowing that takes place.
The ending was not so much about a "demon", as it was about Charlie becoming a boy, as the grandmother always wanted. Scenes in the movie allowed this to happen. The movie has far greater meaning and deep understanding.
It is not a run of the mill gorefest, slasher, monster movie. It is a film that the audience must be attentive for. So while it is a 2 hour long, slow movie, certain aspects of the film give you that "a-ha" moment, as you realize what was said or done in a previous scene.
Do not underestimate this film from someone else's unreasonable assumption of plot that does not make sense. It absolutely all ties together. Give it a watch, the film is truly amazing.
