Review of Hereditary (2018) by Douglas S — 08 Sep 2018
An intensely emotional and paranormal ride into madness. You start with a highly dysfunctional family coping with the death of their grandmother. The plot includes one highly volatile, emotionally distant matriarch, Toni Colette, a weak willed, equally distant father figure, Gabriel Byrne, and two very odd children, and you wind up with hell of a great movie. The people who hated it, probably expected jump scares and a lot of gore, basically cheap thrills. What this movie delivers is a smoldering terror that builds in intensity and finishes with a twist that leaves you feeling truly disturbed. This movie will keep you guessing and will haunt you long after you've watched it. I'm a huge fan of Toni Collette. She was positively brilliant in this movie. The rest of the cast were top notch as well.
Worth watching!
