Review of Hereditary (2018) by K I — 25 Aug 2018

Ugh. So over-rated. I heard such great things, but was very disappointed. In addition to spending time with a very unsympathetic family, the plotting was slow and ponderous. A 127 min film with about 1 hour of story and heavy on creepy "sound design" in leiu of actual suspense.

I'd heard that the ending was controversial, and after seeing the film, I'll just assume that's code for "silly." Core idea is fine - a family with a supernatural secret history - but there was a better film to be made from that idea.
