Review of Hereditary (2018) by Shehreeze A — 03 Aug 2018

I felt the need to write this review because of the sheer stupidity coming from most of these reviewers who deigned to say this movie is horrible. I want to know what drugs these people are on and where to get them.

I will start by saying that this is by far one of the best if not THE best horror movie ever made. It is an abstract film so for those of you who are uncultured in the arts, you wonâ??t comprehend that aspect and thatâ??s okay.

I will explain to you future viewers what really happened here and why so many of these reviewers have the stupid disease. What happened is that these people saw this movie in the theaters, where you are forced to sit next to all kinds of people who love to talk during movies. As this movie got deeper into the rabbit hole, the viewers began laughing because of how insanely scary things got. This is the same phenomenon youâ??ll come across at any scary movie youâ??ll see in the theaters. Most people laugh during jump scares, but you see, this movie did not have jump scares, the whole thing was scary so they laughed the whole time. If you guys have heard of the adjective, â??nopeâ??, given to scary things (spiders are a nope and snakes are a nope), this movie in the eyes of all these viewers was one big nope unraveling in front of their eyes. These reviewers heard all of these laughs but werenâ??t really listening to what these laughers were all saying, they were responding to each scary part get scarier. Most of these reviewers cannot understand a good movie when they see one, so they are easily influenced by the opinions and reactions of the people around them. So when these reviewers heard all of this laughing, which happens in every scary movie but more in this one because its scarier, these reviewers thought, â??oh, these people are laughing, this movie must suckâ??.

Another one of these reviewers said it sucked as they witnessed two viewers leave the theater saying they couldnâ??t watch this anymore. Did it never occur to that reviewer that these people left because they felt too afraid and dreaded to continue to watch?

This movie filled me with dread, hopelessness, and a feeling of evil. By the end, I felt like I was in a cult and this was exactly what the creators were trying to accomplish by making this film. Of course, for some people, this hellish feeling might be too much to handle so you cannot blame them for leaving the theater when it got to that point for them. However, because they left, the other people in the audience perceived it as a response to the movie sucking. Use your brains for a second, people will not waste the money they spent on the tickets for a movie if they thought it was bad, and this movie, in no sense of the word except for evilness can be associated with â??badâ??. They leave because itâ??s overwhelming. Even if you are not capable of being scared and this didnâ??t scare you, you cannot possibly say this is a horrible movie. So when you see that being said about this movie, itâ??s a redflag and you know to ignore those reviewers because they do not understand good movies when they see one. They are way too easily influenced by surrounding peopleâ??s reactions to the movie, because they cannot form their own opinions.

To all of you future viewers and to those of you who have already seen it and didnâ??t like it, I implore you to rewatch this movie in the dark and in your own homes with people who donâ??t have the bad habit of talking during movies and formulate your own opinion. I guarantee you will see the brilliance of this movie. Sorry for the long review but I felt angered by how stupid these reviewers and I donâ??t want them to discourage A24 from creating another masterpiece like this one.

TLDR: Genius horror movie. Ignore these dumb people saying the movie is bad. They just got influenced by what they THOUGHT the people around them thought of the movie. Watch in dark, in your house, with people who have good movie-watching ettiquette.
