Review of Hereditary (2018) by Jane D — 27 Jun 2018
One of the worst films I have ever seen. The concept behind this film is very poorly explained, We know the grandmother was into weird stuff, but it's in now way explained at all, so the ending makes basically no sense what so ever! The First hour and a half of this film are incredibly dull, it feels like nothing is happening for most of the film.
There was some interesting parts watching Toni Collette's character deal with the loss of loved ones, this part of the story felt real and interesting, but it was ruined by forced adding of horror to the story.
By far the worst part of the film was the ending, you can see the director clearly wanted this part to seem scary, but he has managed to create the funniest movie that I have ever seen. From the incredibly poor cgi, the awful sound editing which made a decapitation sound like someone having a shit, the naked ghosts hanging around at the end who were smiling and waving, which ruined the serious nature the director wanted. This ending had my self and the rest of the cinema on the floor laughing at this incredibly poor attempt at horror. (being 100% serious, everyones in that cinema was crying with laughter by the end of this movie).
