Review of Here Today (2021) by Dawdlingpoet — 08 May 2022
This is a bit of a mish mash of a film. It has some funny moments and sad moments too but it felt a bit too bland mid way through, so I can't say I was exactly gripped by it. It took a while before I really laughed, which isn't good for a film primarily categorised as a comedy and the whole inter generational (age gap) aspect felt a bit cliche.
It's certainly cheesy at the end and I'd even say it has the feel of an afternoon TV film about it but it's not all bad. It covers some decent themes and it sort of means well. I liked one scene in particular, where Charlie interupts live TV and has a bit of a vent.
I feel like this could have been a better film, it has some promise but it doesn't really work properly, not as far as I'm concerned anyway. The cast is decent and there's some witty dialogue but its far from memorable or stand out, so overall I wouldn't recommend this film, no.
