Review of Here on Earth (1993) by Jeffrey A — 28 May 2008
The best way to describe this movie is formulaic, predictable, and cliche. However, it is somewhat redeemed by the acting of Leelee Sobieski. She puts forth an enchanting performance. Chris Klein is largely mediocre in his role, trying his best to appear like a changed person and a guy struggling with real tough issues in his life, but he comes across as insincere many a time.
The plot is very much the same - it tries very hard to be meaningful and deep, but doesn't achieve that. Nonetheless, it is a sentimental tale that tries to say "love conquers all", and that counts for something.
