Review of Here Comes the Boom (2012) by Shiela E — 28 Mar 2014
I'm a sucker for feel-good movies like this. They aren't particularly realistic (in these films, despite the odds against it, there is ALWAYS a happy ending), but in a world that is so damn depressing most of the time, you take what hope you can get.
the story was similar to what we have often seen before, but the MANNER in which the unlikely hero chose to save the day was somewhat different. The main thing that sells a traditional film like this is the characters though.
If you like kevin james, henry winkler and selma hayek (I do), then the movie is a pleasant enough diversion. you WANT these guys to succeed. to sum it up, fairly mindless but sweet, enjoyable fluff. as a side note, was kind of nice to see Greg Germann of ally mcbeal fame in something.
