Review of Hercules (2014) by Carlotta 4 — 15 Nov 2012
This film chose to do a very strange thing. Gospel choirs in ancient Greece... it's the sort of strange, totally wacky thing that is guaranteed to either be amazing--or a total failure.
And it worked! The songs seem to fit somehow, are catchy, and don't detract from the plot of the film which is also quite good. Hercules sells his character as innocent and naiive (without being annoying about it), and Meg sells her character as a girl who plays tougher than she is due to her past. It's just a nice chemistry, and it's a nice film.
