Review of Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo (1977) by Reylene T — 26 Dec 2007
It's not critically the best, but this is my favourite Herbie film. Good move getting Dean Jones back whle adding Don Knotts in there makes them a fun double act. The French setting is fun and while we have the sub-plot about the stolen diamond, the racing is at the forefront again which is where Herbie works best.
He even falls in love with 'that luscious Lancia'. Okay, some elements grate but it climaxes with a terrific race and... yeah, this was the most fun I ever had watching Herbie.
