Review of Herbie Goes Bananas (1980) by Trisha W — 04 Jan 2009
This wasn't nearly as good as the other Herbie films. This one seemed to be tacked on to try and milk the system for more money, even though none of the actors returned and even the name Herbie was hardly used.
The story was fairly cute, although it had nothing to do with racing which was what the whole Herbie series was about - a racing slug bug that beat all the odds. There were a few cute parts like in the matador ring and the launching of the bananas, but overall the film didn't impress me at all.
The acting was ok, but nothing to write home about. The biggest flaw was the lack of consistency between the first 3 (and even the late addition Herbie Fully Loaded), making this film seem out of place.
