Review of Her (2013) by Duane R — 29 Jan 2015
"Imagine the possibilities." Get lost in the idea of living with an Artificial Intelligence operating system. Experiencing how such a software would completely change the way we interact with technology was enlightening.
If you are looking for action, or logic, move on. If you feel the need to take a break from reality and spend a couple hours in the very possible future, poor a glass of wine and leave your expectations behind.
Theodore's relationship with Samantha is a wonderful journey. Just below the surface we see the possibility that Theodore is really falling in love with himself and Samantha is more of a mirror for his own emotion.
The idea that you can be completely honest with someone or something other than yourself and not worry about being judged or condemned for being human is truly the fairytale idea we strive for in reality.
Samantha's exploration of the world beyond her programming is in tune with Theodore's rediscovery of life after a failed relationship.
Her is not watched as much as it is felt. A fascinating ride of emotions that reminds us just how irrational and mysterious love truly is.
