Science fiction is always at its best when it's used to comment on the human condition. Here it enables Spike Jonze's thoughtful study of loneliness, insecurity, fleeting happiness and love - whatever these things may be; real feelings or shades of mental illness.
A mix of touching and uncomfortable moments. Good performances and an effective soundtrack by Arcade Fire.
