Review of Henry's Crime (2010) by Peter L — 18 Apr 2011
"Henry's Crime" is a comedy mixing a bank heist with a regional theater production of Chekhov's "The Cherry Orchard" in Buffalo. Starring Keanu Reeves as an aimless, passive toll booth collector who gets caught up in a bank robbery and ends up doing jail time.
Deciding to take a more active role in his life, he decides to rob the same bank, with the help of his cellmate in jail and a leading actress in the play (played by James Caan and Vera Famiga). James Caan is a delight to watch on screen and Vera Farmiga is fine too.
It's unintentionally funny though to watch Keanu's acting in this film, a mixed bag of staring blankly into the camera or an occasional deadpan line here and there.
