Review of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986) by Vincent B — 15 Aug 2009
Disturbing and incredibly absorbing, it was a very interesting character study that did not glamorise the violence or even pass judgement upon its main character. The film remained nuetral and allowed the audience to just observe.
The acting by everyone was good, but Rooker was incredible. The directing was also very good, considering the minescule budget. The only problems were that many of the camera techniques and music were a bit outdated, which could bother many people.
Also, the very first moments of the film showed the aftermaths of some of Henry's kills, which was neat, but as we saw the dead people, we could hear them being killed. This would have been a great idea, but alot of the sounds were unintentionally comical.
