Review of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986) by Stefán Birgir S — 21 Jun 2010
Although it's not the best horror or serial killer movie that I've ever seen, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer is definitely a pretty unique and memorable entry in the genre. The dated score is unfortunate, as silence would have been a lot creepier than the 80s industrial sounds, but the story is strong enough that I can somewhat forgive the poor score.
Although the plot is simple, it's definitely not the standard run-of-the-mill 80s horror movie. The component of the apprenticeship was very interesting and not at all what I expected, and there are a couple of stand-out scenes, especially in the second half.
This may be a film that benefits from multiple viewings, but I can already see why many herald it as an underrated classic.
