Review of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986) by Zack B — 24 Oct 2011
Astonishing faux-documentary recreation of the times of Henry Lee Lucas, "The Confessions Killer". McNaughton's direction is assured and innovative, creating a subversively immersive experience.
Rarely has a serial killer been depicted in cinema in such a stripped down, harrowing fashion. Rooker's performance is one of the finest character studies of the past twenty years, and elevates an already tremendous film into truly classic territory.
A must-see for those who value the less glamourous side of horror filmmaking.
