A deeply disturbing film and a fascinatingly horrifying character study based loosely in part on the true story of serial murderers Henry Lee Lucas and Otis Toole. For Henry, and his roommate Otis, murder is merely a way of life and nothing more.

The amoral viewpoint is central in this feature. Rooker portrays his character as being emotionally numb and void of feeling with a haunting authenticity. The way that the characters operate force the viewer into a world that is disturbingly beyond societal comprehension.

Filmed in 1986, this film was not released until 1990 when it was greeted with swarms of controversy.
