Review of Helvetica (2007) by Maya V — 06 Jan 2008
I think this film is an absolutely terrific documentary that transcends the history of a single typeface. The directors weave interviews with both pro-Helvetica and anti-Helvetica designers, creating a balanced and nuanced film that is necessary viewing for anyone interested in the history of graphic design.
And, designer or not, if you have ever wondered about those hundreds of fonts that are on display when you try to format a Word document, you may just find this film necessary viewing for you, as well.
