Review of Helvetica (2007) by Chris A — 15 Apr 2008
This is a great movie, but you've got to really love to hear about fonts and typeface for a long time. It's like something you'd expect to watch in a college art design class. It works as a movie because it is firmly rooted in the history of the latter half of the 20th century and shows how our sense of culture finds voice in the fonts we see everyday, and ultimately in the revulsion some feel against this ultra-clean, sanitized, and wholly safe (and therefore completely unacceptable, IMO) font.
Recommended if you are a geek.
