Review of Helvetica (2007) by Erno K — 28 May 2008

Someone might say I watch too many documentaries, when I confess that I just finished one about the typeface named Helvetica. You can laugh now, it was pretty darn boring.

For some reason, these things interest me. It's always fascinating to get expert insight into something so ordinary you take it for granted. Helvetica seems to be one of those things. Everything is written in this typeface in our world. Most signs and advertisements, as well as company logos.

Apparently Helvetica has been dominating the market from its inception. Whoopdy-doo. I really don't give a crap. This documentary could have been a lot more interesting, but it merely asked a bunch of people what they think about Helvetica. More info about typography in general, as well as its history would have been mucho appreciated. As such, this is an unnecessary collection of dull interviews by a very dull group of people.
