Review of Helvetica (2007) by Jesse W — 12 Sep 2008
How could a feature length film be about a font? You'd be surprised. But you'd also find yourself getting antsy after 45 minutes. A fairly well constructed and photographed documentary about typography that takes the viewer on a ride through the history and everyday use of Helvetica, the undoubtedly most overused font in the world.
I began to get tired of the subject matter after about 75% of the way into the movie, and I am a graphic/web designer by trade. However, the good parts are quite good, showing you how something seemingly so insignificant as a font has literally taken over 80% of visual design on object we see and use everyday.
I swear, if you watch this, you will see that font everywhere.
